ROCKFORD, IL—Ingersoll Machine Tools Inc. recently began assembling the world’s largest telescope mount at its factory here.

BELVIDERE, IL—The tornado that touched down at an industrial park in Windsor, ON, last week has temporarily halted vehicle production at FCA’s assembly plant here. The plant receives parts from a Windsor supplier, which was severely damaged by the tornado.

TOLEDO, OH—FCA US will invest more than $1 billion in its assembly plants in Illinois and Ohio to retool them to increase production of the Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler.

TOKYO—Mitsubishi Motors Corp. will shut its only North American assembly plant, in Normal, IL, by November if it can’t find a buyer for the factory, and will soon start shipping tooling back to Japan.
