The unemployment rate for veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces since September 2001 stood at 9 percent in 2013, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s down from 9.9 percent in 2012, but it’s still significantly higher than the 6.7 percent rate for the general population.
