Short-cycle applications have a wide range of requirements. Manufacturing engineers must consider numerous aspects of transfer systems: Can the system move forwards and back again? How flexible is it? What sizes and weights can be transported? Can it be expanded if necessary?
The new TS 2 Booster from Bosch Rexroth answers those questions. The TS 2 Booster was developed as a component for the company’s established TS 2plus pallet-transfer conveyor, enabling the machine to achieve new degrees of freedom and a unique level of flexibility. A rapid intake system seamlessly takes pallets from linear motor-driven sections and accelerates them to 3 g. This significantly reduces cycle times as the workpieces spend much less unproductive time at and before each workstation.
Workstations can be approached flexibly and with great precision. The TS 2 Booster positions the workpiece pallet exactly—without additional positioning units, stop gates or handling systems. This also means that the Booster can replace a process axis. The preconfigured and standardized assembly can easily be integrated into TS 2plus systems, ensuring quick installation times and low costs.
The TS 2 Booster can be used in a variety of assembly applications, including clean rooms. It has a maximum acceleration of 3 g and a maximum speed of 3 meters per second. It transports workpieces ranging in length from 160 to 640 millimeters and width from 160 to 400 millimeters. Depending on the pallet size, the booster is suitable for loads weighing up to 40 kilograms. Pallet changeover time can be as little as 0.5 second.
