LA Auto Museum Exhibit Focuses on EV Evolution
August 5, 2024
LOS ANGELES—The Petersen Automotive Museum has unveiled a new display entitled “Alternating Currents: The Fall and Rise of Electric Vehicles.” Vehicles on display include an 1896 Riker electric roadster one of the earliest EVs in existence. Other vehicles include a 1969 GM XP 512 E prototype and a 1991 BMW E2 concept, plus a 1990 GM Impact, which was the inspiration behind the EV1 later in the decade.
The Petersen Museum also has a temporary display entitled “Driven by Possibility: Waymo’s Road to Autonomous Transport.” It examines how Waymo was formed out of Google’s self-driving car project in 2016 and has evolved over the years into a controversial ride-hailing service in Austin, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco.
